Primary neurons grown on coverslips were treated as in Fig. 1, followed by immunofluorescence staining with anti-total tau (a), AT8 (b), PHF1 (c) or Tau-1 (d) antibodies. For AT8 (f), PHF-1 (g), and Tau-1 (h), immunofluorescence intensity levels were normalized to those of total tau (e).
